Meet the Instructors
Bruce makes his living teaching piping full time at home Halifax Nova
Scotia with an ever growing stable of students coming to his work office at
the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site or his computer as he is one of the
most in demand teachers on the growing “skype “ network with over 40
students coming online to see him. Bruce is one of the top solo competitors in the world, and is currently Pipe Sergeant of 78th Highlanders Halifax Citadel grade 1. Learn more at www.brucegandymusic.com
Blair is one of the top solo drummers in the world. He is a consistent prize winner at the World Solo Drumming Championships. He has won the Gold Medal at the prestigious Winter Storm event, in Kansas City, a record 5 times.
Blair is a sought after educator. He regularly conducts workshops and teaches at piping and drumming schools worldwide. He is a certified judge with the Pipers' and Pipe Band Society of Ontario. He is currently based in Houston, TX.
Seumas started playing bagpipes at the age of 3 1/2 and became the youngest professional piper in the world at the age of 12. Seumas was taught by Jim Coyne, Angus Mackay, Jimmy McIntosh, Murray Henderson and Jack Lee. He is a long-standing member of the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band in Vancouver, Canada and competes as a professional soloist at the highest levels around the world. He has taught many a successful piper and has students from around the world.
Ron "Ringo" Bowen
Ringo is a recognized authority on GHB. Regularly consulted from around the world. He is the founder and owner of www.thebagpipeplace.com with the largest on-line
collection of bagpipe pictures and history in the world. Ringo has competed with and ran numerous top bands in Grades 3-1 : Clan MacFarlane, Niagara Regional Police, Niagara Police and more. He is currently the Pipe Major of the Tucson and District Pipe Band. He has also designed The Bowen Classic bagpipe by Dunbar and the Dunbar Elite bagpipe chanter and subsequent iterations. There are few as well versed in the minutia of the instrument as Ringo.
Ed is a qualified, professional educator with over 30 years of successful pipe band experience and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He has held many band and solo titles in all grades including North American Champion, East Coast Champion Supreme, Ontario Champion Supreme, West Coast Champion of Champions, and Canadian Champion. He is a regular instructor for bands and schools across the country. His individual students and bands regularly appear in the prize lists at highland games across the country. Ed understands that everyone is different and has different strengths and goals. He works hard to be sure that your needs are met.
Kristin started playing Scottish Tenor approximately in 1999. She was part of the, now, Kevin R Blandford Memorial Pipe Band (grade 3) through the 2010 season. In 2011 she joined the Grade 1 LA Scots Pipe Band and continues to lead their tenor corps to success.
