Support the Band
Are you looking for a way to support a community based cultural organization
that may entitled you to a tax deduction? Supporting the Stewart Tartan
Pipes & Drums helps bring the music of ancient Scotland and Ireland to the Greater Bay Area.
Moreover, the Stewart Tartan Pipes & Drums trains students, young
and old, some who have never played a musical instrument before, in the
playing of the pipes and drums.
Your support helps take the Stewart Tartan Pipes & Drums to many civic oriented functions,
providing a memorable
and unique experience to those who otherwise would not be exposed to or enriched
by the
inspirational sounds and sights of a bagpipe band.
The Stewart Tartan is a non-profit organization, classified by the IRS under
code 501(c)(3), and is funded solely through appearance fees and donations.
All members and officers of the Stewart Tartan Pipes and Drums are volunteers
and do not receive payment or stipend from the band for rehearsal or
appearances.
Bringing this rare form of music to the public is not without cost. The
Stewart Tartan Pipes and Drums is one of the few pipe bands to wear the
traditional military uniform of the Scottish regiments. Each uniform costs
approximately $2500, a set of bagpipes start at $1000 per set,
and a drum costs approximately $500. Maintenance of
the uniforms and instruments runs to several thousand dollars per year.
In 2005, the Stewart Tartan has been invited to represent the United States at
the Victoria Cross Tattoo to be held in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada in September.
This will be quite an undertaking for a band that has not ventured past the Bay
Area since 1980. We are looking for Donations and Sponsors to assist in
sending the
Band to Canada. May we count on you for your support?
